Dr. Bachir Ismaël OUEDRAOGO holds a PhD in Renewable Energy Economics and Climate Change from the University of Manchester in England. He is an expert in renewable energy economics, sustainable development, climate change risks and policies and has a solid academic background in economics and social policy finance. With ten years of experience in energy and housing, optimisation of renewable energy production systems and the impact of climate change on future energy consumption, he is also experienced in energy modelling, design and optimisation of hybrid energy systems and the simulation of energy consumption in buildings with different thermo-physical characteristics in different climatic conditions. With a great managerial capacity he is quick to assimilate new ideas and concepts and to develop innovative and creative solutions to the problems encountered. Professor and researcher in England and then at the International Institute of Environment and Water (2iE) in Burkina Faso, he has been the coordinator of the project to support entrepreneurship in renewable energies in the ECOWAS region since January 2015. In November of the same year he was elected to the National Assembly of Burkina Faso where he held the position of Third Parliamentary Secretary until January 31 2018 (the date of his appointment as Minister of Energy). He is the author of a dozen scientific publications in the field of renewable energies, sustainable development and risks and policies of climate change. A polyglot, he is fluent in French and English and has a basic knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese.
