Nicole Poindexter is the Founder of Energicity a leading offgrid minigrid developer in West Africa. Founded in 2015, the company provides affordable, reliable, scalable electricity to 15 rural communities in Ghana and the winner of a contract to serve an additional 32 communities in Sierra Leone. Prior to founding Energicity, Nicole Poindexter was Senior Director Global Business Development from start up to IPO in 2014 in leading smart grid and utility software company Opower/Oracle. Additionally, in 2011 Nicole Poindexter was appointed to be an inaugural member of the US Department of Commerce Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Poindexter was Senior Policy Advisor for the Mayor’s office in the City of New York under the Bloomberg Administration leading economic development in Harlem and the Bronx; and has started several for profit and not for profit organizations.
She received her BA from Yale University in Political Science and a Masters in Business Administration with Distinction from Harvard University.
